Are lab-grown diamonds real?
Yes, definitely! Lab-created diamonds have the same or similar chemical, optical and physical properties as naturally grown diamonds, therefore it is incorrect to call them "fake diamonds." What sets them apart is the way they were created. Instead of Mother Nature, they were created by advanced technology.
Lab-grown diamonds are the result of carbon atoms rearranged in the form of a diamond crystal structure. Therefore, they showcase the same optical and chemical properties. Once they are made, they are evaluated by a gem lab and certified by a professional.
Regarding durability, since lab-grown diamonds are made of carbon, they are as tough as natural ones, so they continue to be one of the hardest materials on earth. In fact, the US Federal Trade Commission has removed the word “natural” from the definition of diamonds because man-made crystals and mined ones are equal.
